This beautifully patterned little box is ideal for holding treasured keepsakes or for use as an aesthetic object in its own right. This little box is made of unadorned Pembrokeshire spalted beech wood. Spalting is a wholly natural process caused by fungi that cause a random staining in the timber. The mitred corners allow the patterning to flow around the sides and the carefully matched lid makes for a beautiful object. The simple lift off lid is held in place by an inner liner.
The box is lined in black cotton velvet and finished with wax. A scented wax is used inside to stimulate the sense of smell as well as those of touch and sight.

Limited to an exclusive range of 100, signed and numbered.

Size: 5" by 3½" by 2¾" high, nominal.
Weight: 300 grams approx.

Digital Print. Image created from a rubbing and interpretation of prehistoric rock art from the Iveragh Peninsula, County Kerry, Ireland.

Digital print using archival quality inks on Satin Photo paper
Image size 177 mm x 263 mm

We can only guess the meaning and significance that rock carvings in the landscape may have had in the ancient world. This image which survives in the south west of Ireland bears witness to the importance of the place it marks, but tells us little of how it might have looked or what role it played when it was created some four thousand years ago.
